
Take a Step Toward Better Health—Right Here on The Ave
We’ve heard it time and again from doctors, fitness experts, and health professionals: walking is one of the best—and easiest—ways to stay active and improve your overall health. The Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA puts it perfectly: “Walking is a low-impact cardio exercise that can ease you into a higher level of fitness and health. It’s safe, simple, and regular brisk walking can provide many of the benefits of more vigorous exercise, such as jogging.”
The best part? You don’t have to go far to get started. Right here in the heart of downtown Vineland, we’ve created “Walk The Ave”—a series of well-marked walking trails designed to help you move more while exploring all that our community has to offer. With signage and maps to guide you, it’s never been easier to get your steps in:
- One-mile loop – Starts at Sixth Street, heads to Elmer Street, East Avenue, then Wood Street. You can hop on anywhere and finish where you began.
- Two-mile loop – Stroll up and down Landis Avenue, stretching from East Avenue to West Avenue.
- Three-mile loop – A combination of the one- and two-mile routes for those who want an extra challenge.
As you walk (or jog, or run), you’ll not only enjoy the physical benefits—you’ll also reconnect with your city. “Walk The Ave” takes you past charming shops, restaurants, houses of worship, historical landmarks, and more. You might discover a new favorite lunch spot, or finally check out that local business you’ve always meant to visit.
The one-mile loop winds by the Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society, City Hall, and a number of local eateries and services tucked just off Landis Avenue. The two-mile route offers a broader view of our historic downtown, taking you through the core of Main Street Vineland and beyond, past West Avenue.
Whether you prefer a peaceful solo walk, a companionable stroll with a friend, or some quality time with your pup (shoutout to my four-legged buddy, Rocky), “Walk The Ave” is a great way to get outside, breathe some fresh air, and feel good—body and mind. Why not make it a routine? Start a walking group, set a weekly schedule, or reward yourself with a treat from one of our amazing local restaurants along the way.
